My Disappearing Youthful Image
Around 16 my parents gave me an electric shaver for a certain occasion. I don't remember now - Christmas, birthday. It added time to my morning routine so I was not 100% happy about it. But on the other hand few of my peers shaved yet, so it gave me extra cred.
Shaving really began bothering me psychologically in my 20's. I went through a period where I wanted people to think I was a teenager rather than an adult. Growing whiskers interfered with my "youthful image." I spent a great deal of time using the shaver and a blade razor, trying to eliminate every vestige of maturity.
