At my boarding school we had a big out-door pool, with at least a bit of heating. My last two summers there (11 and 12 years old, some guys were 13) the last swim was in the evening and was always "clothes optional" as some would say now. All of us took the other option. It was a big pool and we had two members of staff supervising, from the side, usually a husband and wife team.
It was a lot of fun as most boys were more interested in playing than swimming. Diving, bombing, chase games, duck diving between each other's legs, submarines, all the usual boys' high jinks. There were a couple of girls in my year, but I don't think they joined in. I was good friends with one of them, but truth to tell I was always more interested in boys for 'playing' with.
Nudity at school was pretty casual then, we had communal showers and there were outdoor drying racks for trunks after swimming. Quite a lot of us boys used to take off our trunks after swimming and chase back to the changing rooms to put our clothes on. The route was down some steps, through the basement door, up some more steps, down a corridor, into a room we used for all sorts of things, but mostly wet-day play, up another flight of steps, past the loos and into the changing room. Most of these spaces were used by pupils and staff alike. It was a great opportunity to check each-other out and gave lots of chances to see other boy's cocks and bums; at that age puberty was a mixed event some still tiny, some very hairy already. There were also quite a few places you could divert to, for more intimate activities.
