You ask if anybody has any thoughts about undie style. Here's my two cents.
Up until I was 12 and about to start seventh grade, I wore the plain white briefs that my mother bought for me. She was a widow so the male presence in my life was my grandfather. He showed me a pair of his boxers. I think he wore boxers because the army had issued them to soldiers many years earlier during the war. Grandpa asked me if I didn't want to start wearing grown-up underwear because that's what all the other boys would be wearing when we changed clothes in PE.
Mom got me a package of boxers. I hated them. Felt very insecure as if my private business was on display. The texture of the cloth was all wrong. My dick hung loose, dangling down into a leg of the boxers. Also the boxers felt wadded-up when I put pants on.
I told my mother that I'd rather wear briefs. I think my grandfather was disappointed but nothing more was ever said. I have continued wearing briefs even today.
One thing more: When school started, it was not true that "all" the other boys wore boxers. It was about 50-50 among the boys in PE.

In my junior high PE class everybody started out with briefs. I remember people teasing the first guy that wore a pair to PE. People grabbed them and threw them back and forth in the locker room. The kid that owned them was a friend of mine. I felt bad for him. He stood buck naked and helpless. It caused such a rowdy fuss that the coach had to break it up. But soon more and more boys showed up wearing boxers, probably just to get attention.
ReplyDeleteIn 2004, I was in Middle School, 8th grade and tighty whiteys were maybe 10 per cent. Nobody really wore regular briefs especially white ones.
ReplyDeleteThe OP's post mentions "grandfather" and "war." Is it possible that Grandpa has confused his PE experiences with his barracks experiences? When he says that all the other boys will wear boxers he is actually remembering life in the army, not junior high PE.
ReplyDeleteEh. I apologize. The moderator indeed caught me in a mistake. The comment should read, "I remember people teasing the first guy that wore a pair of boxers to PE." Regrets, amigos!
ReplyDeleteTaking this subject back to a boy's toddler ages, I remember my folks making a big deal about my brother getting his first pair of little briefs. He graduated from diapers to pull-ups to real undies. He was about two or three and walked around so proud showing off his underwear.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely. I think a lot of blog readers grew up in a different time but now boxer briefs are pretty much standard.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was 12 I stopped wearing briefs and started wearing boxers, but at 15 I was wearing boxers again, the main reason being comfort (less fabric) and color styles. Now I am 27 years old and still wear briefs, but only those with good design and attractive colors.
ReplyDelete@anon 2:08. I think most of us can follow your message, except the part about being "15 and wearing Boxers again" etc. I reckon you meant you returned to wearing Briefs?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input.
