As I mentioned in Blog News we have a reader's comment/post suggestion which may generate some thought for our readers. I'll kick off with my comments at the end of his post, then I welcome you guys to add your own words. Either about your own experiences, or perhaps about a close pair of friends from your youth which might stimulate your memories.
Eric~
Having read almost every story on this blog during the last 10 weeks, I notice something I hadn't thought of before. There are two separate kinds of intimate friendships among boys. One is on the level of sexual companionship. Two boys hook up with each other because they have interlocking sexual needs. They may be such good pals that they are careful to give their partner exactly what he needs to have a fulfilling encounter. Their "maleness" is important to them and they could be best friends. But the relationship is not actually a gay one. They may consider their sexual escapades as play. The friendship connection seeks an excited ejaculation but not a kiss.
The second type of boy-boy friendship is the romantic one. The boys go farther than friendship. They may kiss and talk about how they love each other. Possibly they are drawn to each other's nipples as well as to the sexual organs. They want to fulfill each other emotionally as well as physically. This type of friendship may reveal genuine homosexual destines. To call them "best friends" is an understatement as their hugging, kissing and emotional connections take them beyond friendship.
The romantic friendship seeks an ejaculation plus a kiss.
Either type of friendship will collapse if/when one of the boys is drawn toward girls.
So..... some stories are written from the sexual companionship angle, and some from the kissy romantic angle. But both involve elements that ultimately bring the past to life for readers of this blog.

Logan's Unexpected Present
In my teens, I had a friendship, well actually a full on sexy relationship with a friend named Logan. We had met through some common friends...

Starting when we were just babies, there were two other boys in our block that were the same age as me. We were together all the time not...

Dave brings us this story from his youth. I believe it is best to let the story serve as testament to his affection for someone he cherished...
I'm in the 85% group, with no romantic or emotional component to the sexual relationships I had with other boys when I was a young teenager. I remember how excitedly I looked forward to those times when we'd give and receive sexual pleasure from each other. Yes, it was the growing interest in girls that ended these relationships. But here is my question: What attracts that 85% of us who you estimate follow this blog to come here regularly to read and find some level of enjoyment in all of the stories posted here?
ReplyDeleteTo Anon/7:36, That's a good question. I thought about it yesterday but came to no conclusion and, anyway, didn't want to divert attention from the original post and the moderator's personal odyssey. To establish a frame of reference, I'm in the same category with you. I never wanted romance, just an understanding and erect friend like myself who found duets superior to solos. If one of those friends had tried to kiss me I would have freaked and avoided him forever.
ReplyDeleteThere's probably a much larger answer, but here's what I've come up with: Reading OOTS takes me back to one of the best times of my life. It's all tied up with friendship, discovery, adventure. It's an inner appreciation for who and what we were at a brief moment in history. Reading the posts at OOTS takes me back to the kid I used to be. It fulfills a void in my inner being.
Was everything about those days good? Certainly not. Junior High could be a brutal place even for perfectly straight boys. But what we celebrate here at OOTS are the good times.
I hope others will chime in.
I realize this topic can be an uncomfortable conversation for many. The purpose was not to create division among our followers, only to help them understand each-other a bit better. I believe when we open your eyes to others, it helps all to understand ourselves and our own convictions a little better.
ReplyDeleteI thank everyone who chooses to comment on this topic, and even those who just read it and take a moment to think about it all. (Maybe it is easier to acknowledge the 15 percenter's motives?) Me, coming from that camp, I sort of think how much the 85 percent group lost-out on certain experiences. But then too, many of them cannot fathom why I enjoyed crushing on a guy back then, or even now.
