Here is a topic for you guys. I read something like this many years ago and was astounded how high the number is.
Eric
I heard that the overwhelming majority of males have had a same-same sex experience at some point in their lives and many live guilty and ashamed, or even confused by it, their entire lives. Especially if they enjoyed the experience.
I believe that is why a lot of "straight" males act so anti-gay. It's a wall they hide behind to be sure within themselves that there is no question as to their sexuality despite what happened.

Dave brings us this story from his youth. I believe it is best to let the story serve as testament to his affection for someone he cherished...

Okay, I'll try to kick-off this discussion. Before I posted, I felt the urge to Google-up some sites to see if I could find current data on what percentage of the population might have had a same sex encounter. Well I can tell you guys there is any manner of data and scientific study on the topic. As well there are many guides to helping individuals and teens in dealing with their sexual identity.
ReplyDeleteI decided to bypass all the facts and figures, and in OOTS4U fashion, lets explore the personal side of how we deal with the notion of getting with a guy. Notice I said "Guy". Even when we were young, another boy is still a guy.
I estimate that probably 60-70% of our readers have actually had a same gender experience, and the remaining group have at-least wanted to at some point. So I feel we have a valid audience here, that could speak to any possible aspect of a "gay" encounter. You might have felt confused or socially pressured to refute the event as impacting. Some may have felt they finally found their destiny. However I suspect most guys had some degree of regret and angst.
Here on OOTS4U , we proudly serve the boy or man with a forum to discuss this topic. Let me establish that this is no admission of being gay, and certainly not a Coming-out party. A lot of guys who may have shared one same gender experience feel it does not make them full-on gay. I deem that as merely a varied repertoire of life experiences.
I've recently been sharing a conversation with a Pen-pal on the guilt issues, and how it yields long-lasting sorrow over said events. He shared an aspect I had not considered. He maintains that the bulk of the Anglo-Saxon world is intolerant of certain aspects on Human Sexuality, and that much of the world hold far less conviction for individuals who drift from the sexual norm. He also went on to describe how our western civilization has created an environment that fosters a "Witch-hunt" mentality for individuals who engage in a loving relationship albeit it may not fit Christian guidelines. Indeed it was a wide open conversation however I think his words resounded my own free thoughts/experiences and many of our guests as well.
I hope we get some traction on this topic here. I also ask guys to comment at what age you wanted to try something with a friend (same gender), or perhaps what age you actually did.
